A first-ever website for a qualified beauty therapist.
Maria runs 12:47 Beauty — a Level 2 & 3 beauty therapist and Tropic Brand Ambassador based in Cholsey, Oxfordshire. She'd never had a website before. She came to Pixel Heaven with a logo, a price list, and a plan to start taking online bookings properly.
The business.
Maria is a qualified Level 2 & 3 beauty therapist and a Tropic Skincare Brand Ambassador working out of Cholsey, near Wallingford. Treatments range from facials and waxing through to full-body pampering, with Tropic's clean skincare range woven through the service menu and as gift-voucher options.
When we first spoke, Maria had been serving local clients for a while on the strength of reputation and Instagram. She knew she needed a proper home on the web — somewhere new clients could discover her, see treatment prices, buy gift vouchers, and book with confidence.
What she needed.
Three specific things a website had to deliver for her business:
- A clear treatment menu with prices. The most common question Maria fielded over Instagram DMs was "how much for a [specific treatment]?" — she needed a page that answered that before the message even arrived.
- A showcase for Tropic products and gift vouchers. Both are high-margin revenue lines that needed proper display, not a buried mention on a social post from last Tuesday.
- Credibility at first glance. A prospective client checking out a new beauty therapist for the first time wants to see qualifications, real photos, real testimonials — signals that the person has done this before and will do it again properly.
What we built.
A multi-page hand-coded site at 1247beauty.co.uk:
- Homepage with the Cholsey hook — local SEO-ready, targeting "beauty therapist Cholsey" and surrounding villages. Schema markup, proper meta tags, phone number prominent.
- Treatments page with full price list — every service, every length, every price. No "call for pricing" ambiguity. Photos of the treatment space for reassurance.
- Gift vouchers section — seasonal messaging built in so the page works year-round but lifts around Christmas, Mother's Day and Valentine's.
- Tropic Brand Ambassador page — product display, shoppable links, and an explanation of Maria's partnership with Tropic for clients new to the brand.
- About Me page — qualifications, background, approach. First-time clients want to know who'll be working on them before they book.
- WhatsApp click-to-chat on every page — still the preferred booking channel for local clients, integrated alongside the formal contact form for those who prefer it.
- Custom domain, hosting, SSL and ongoing updates — all included in the monthly fee. Maria sends new treatment photos, I update the gallery.
Total time from first message to live site: under 48 hours.
"I recently worked with James at Pixel Heaven to create my first ever website, and I honestly couldn't be happier with the experience. I had no idea what to expect or exactly what I wanted, but James took my branding logo and price list and created a mock up that completely blew me away — I was genuinely speechless at how amazing it looked, especially in such a short amount of time. I gave a few small tweaks and pointers, and he made the changes quickly and effortlessly. His communication was fast, professional, and so easy throughout the whole process. The level of time, effort and creativity he put into my website is incredible, especially for the price. I'm so, so happy with the final result and couldn't have asked for anything better. I would highly recommend James to anyone looking to create a new website or refresh an existing one — he's truly talented!"
The cost.
12:47 Beauty is on the Get Found tier — £100 one-off build fee, £20/month for hosting, SSL, domain, backups and unlimited content updates. Full first-year cost: £340.
Maria's monthly rate is locked for life. If she wants to upgrade later (to add a booking system, blog, or more pages) she pays only the difference in build fee — the monthly rate lock carries forward.
Why this pattern works.
Service-based UK small businesses — beauty therapists, hairdressers, personal trainers, nutritionists, healers of all kinds — live or die by how a first-time client feels in the first five seconds on their page. A template-built Wix site screams "I haven't taken this seriously yet"; a hand-coded site that actually speaks about the specific treatments, in the specific town, with the actual person's photo, says "this is a real business I run properly".
For Maria, going from no website at all to a proper multi-page site in 48 hours meant going from "she's on Instagram somewhere" to "she's 1247beauty.co.uk" — which, for clients who like to research before spending money on their face, changes the game.
