Pop your email in and James will personally look at your results and reply with the three things that would make the biggest difference to your site. Plain English, no jargon, no obligation, no mailing list.

What counts as a good score?

Google puts every mobile performance score into one of three bands. Most small business sites built on template platforms land in the middle one, and their owners have no idea.

0–49
Poor. Actively losing visitors and rankings.
50–89
Needs improvement. Where most template sites sit.
90–100
Good. Where a hand-coded site should be.

Why a slow website quietly costs you work

Two things happen to a slow site, and both are invisible unless you go looking. First, Google uses page experience as a ranking signal, so when two local businesses compete for the same search, the faster site gets the benefit of the doubt. Second, customers simply leave: a large share of mobile visitors abandon any page that takes more than about three seconds to appear. They don't complain, they don't tell you, they just press back and call the next business on the list.

We tested every web design agency ranking in Oxfordshire with this exact engine and published the full league table in our Oxfordshire Web Design Speed Report. If the people selling websites can't pass Google's test on their own sites, it tells you how much the industry relies on nobody checking.

What we test, in plain English

The check runs Google Lighthouse against your site as if a real customer opened it on a normal phone over a normal mobile connection. It measures how long your page takes to become visible, how long before it responds to taps, whether things jump around while loading, and whether the basics Google reads (titles, descriptions, mobile setup) are in place. It's the same test we run on every site we build before handover, where our pass mark is 90 or above.

Scored under 90? That's fixable.

We build hand-coded sites that pass this test from day one. See yours before you pay a penny.
