A visual portfolio site for a luxury balloon stylist.

Georgiana runs Air & Glow — a luxury balloon styling and bespoke event décor studio based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The business is visual by nature. She needed a website that could do justice to the work.

The business.

Air & Glow creates bespoke balloon installations and event décor for birthdays, baby showers, gender reveals, weddings, corporate events and seasonal celebrations across Didcot and the wider Oxfordshire area. It's the kind of business that lives or dies by photography — someone booking a wedding balloon arch doesn't want to read about it, they want to see it.

Georgiana had a growing body of work: hundreds of photos across five or six distinct event types, a recognisable brand identity, a steady stream of referrals. What was missing was somewhere to pull it all together into a proper portfolio.

What she needed.

Three specific things a website had to handle properly for the business:

  • A photography-first design. The work is the product. The site had to let the images breathe — big, crisp, on-brand — rather than compressing them behind busy text and sidebars.
  • Clear service categories. Air & Glow handles very different events with very different budgets. A baby-shower enquiry and a corporate event enquiry are different conversations; the site needed to guide each to the right starting point.
  • A clean enquiry flow. Event décor bookings include date, venue, theme, scale, budget. The contact page needed to capture those details up front so Georgiana could quote accurately rather than playing email tennis for three days.

What we built.

A multi-page hand-coded site at airandglow.co.uk:

  • Photography-first homepage — hero image dominates, brand typography contrasts, and the cadence down the page is image → caption → CTA rather than wall-of-text-then-photo.
  • Gallery page with categories — birthdays, baby showers, weddings, corporate, seasonal, grab-and-go, signature arches. Browsing filters let prospective clients see the specific style relevant to their event.
  • Services page — each event type gets a proper section with examples, what's typically included, and a jump-to-contact CTA. Demystifies what booking Air & Glow actually looks like.
  • "The face behind Air & Glow" about page — Georgiana's story, the why, what the business stands for. Essential for high-trust bookings where clients are buying a person as much as a product.
  • Smart contact form — event type, date, venue, guest count and budget range all captured up front, so every enquiry arrives ready to quote.
  • Mobile-first layout — most event enquiries come from a client scrolling on a phone while planning. Thumb-friendly gallery, tap-to-call, WhatsApp widget on every page.
  • Social announcement landing — a dedicated URL for new services and seasonal pushes that Georgiana can share straight to Instagram stories without directing traffic into the main nav.

Total time from first message to live site: under 48 hours.

"I had a great experience working with James at Pixel Heaven and would highly recommend him. He provided excellent support throughout the whole process, always offering helpful advice and guidance. What really stood out was how quickly he responded to messages and implemented any changes I requested. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and he made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. I'm really happy with the final result and would definitely work with him again. 5 stars all the way!"

The cost.

Air & Glow is on the Get Found tier — £100 one-off build fee, £20/month for hosting, SSL, domain, backups and unlimited content updates. Full first-year cost: £340.

For a visual business with a growing portfolio, the flexibility to keep adding photos from recent events without touching code or paying per-image upload is a meaningful part of the value.

Why this pattern works.

Visual service businesses — photographers, florists, cake designers, event stylists — are all in the same boat. Instagram does a lot of the discovery work, but Instagram isn't a home. It's someone else's ecosystem, with their algorithm, their rules, their ads between your posts. A proper website is the permanent portfolio, the place a booked client can send a friend who's "looking for someone who does this".

For Georgiana, going from no website to a professional photography-first portfolio in 48 hours means every new enquiry from now on lands on real-estate she owns — not on a platform that could change its rules tomorrow.
